self-esteem
Most people realize that they have low self-esteem and self-efficacy only during rough adolescent times or only as young adults and adults. What most don't realize is that, the self-concept and self-worth starts to develop during childhood. It is heavily shaped by our interactions with our family, friends, teachers and the world.
Self-esteem is much more complex than the general understanding of the concept. There are many nuances and types. Almost every individual we came across and of all ages; be it children, adolescents, young adults and adults, all had low self-esteem. Low self-esteem or a more covert form of low self-esteem such as unstable self-esteem has its effects in all areas of life from small to big.
Its part of why we as individuals in all levels of life need psychological safe spaces and social support systems for thriving and functioning.
If you are dealing with self-esteem- please know that your worthiness is more than what might say and more than a number or score. We are all unique and inherently worthy, we just have to find it. To understand self-esteem in depth, check out our blog on self-esteem.

Our motto for self-esteem: What other people say about you won't matter when YOU realize your worth and know yourself . Internal validation over external.
-
Self-esteem in and of itself is not mental health disorder, but is closely tied to mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety. Its not to say that, everyone with self-esteem issues will develop a mental health disorder, but is just a connection that exists. But, we are putting it up because self-esteem is an important factor in fostering flourishing and a quality life.

In our therapeutic practice over the years we find that, somewhere along the line most psychological disturbances exist or are increased due to insecurities and self-esteem issues.
-
Our approach to managing self-esteem is first to understand the environments and experiences that are at the root cause of the maladaptive self-esteem.
-
Our focus is to bring about stable self-esteem through internal, balanced evaluation and validation of self. We as a society are socialized to base ourselves on external validations and this can be very damaging in certain situations.
